Paranormal Activity 3 Directors Hired for Fourth Installment

After revealing that Paramount Pictures was merely "developing ideas" for a potential Paranormal Activity 4, progress on the sequel has been quickly with almost daily updates. Earlier this week, it was reported that Paranormal Activity 4 would open later this year, while yesterday, Paramount decided to schedule the sequel for an October 19th release date, despite not having any writers or directors attached. Now, that's changed as well.

Bloody-Disgusting reports that Paramount has decided to keep Paranormal Activity 3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish) on board to direct the fourth installment, which makes sense since the directing duo helped bring the sequel to massive box office success with $203 million worldwide, better than the previous two movies. The next step will be to bring in a screenwriter. Christopher B. Landon wrote the scripts for both Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 2 and seems like a logical fit, though there's no word on whether he's been approached.

Paranormal Activity 3 was a prequel to the previous two movies bringing the characters of siblings Katie and Kristi (played by Katie Featherston and Sprague Grayden, respectively, in previous movies) back to their childhoods (where they were played by Chloe Csengery and Jessica Tyler Brown, respectively). No word on whether the adult version of the characters or the younger versions will appear in Paranormal Activity 4.
